Meet Cameron Jay
podcaster, advocate, public speaker, and commentator based in Athens, Georgia
The Podcaster
& advocate
Based in Athens, Georgia, “Cameron Jay” Harrelson is a true crime podcaster, dynamic public speaker, and community advocate.
Cameron is the host, creator, and producer of Classic City Crime, a true crime podcast that details the city of Athens’ most notorious crimes. In its first season, the podcast covered the 23-year unsolved homicide of University of Georgia School of Law Student Tara Louise Baker. As a result of the 25 episode series, Cameron and the Baker family worked with local legislators, Scot Turner of Eternal Vigilance Action, and the family of another unsolved homicide victim, Rhonda Sue Coleman to pass Georgia’s Coleman-Baker Act, a piece of legislation that established and funded the official cold case homicide unit at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. As a result of the bill’s passage and the unit’s formation, in May of 2024, an arrest was finally made in Tara Baker’s case.
Classic City Crime also brought renewed attention to the unsolved case of Jonathan Foundling, an infant found murdered shortly after birth in 1996 on the campus of The University of Georgia. A year after covering the case, investigators identified the mother and Cameron was able to connect with the family of the infant, who spoke exclusively- and only- to his podcast.
Cameron has also detailed other historic cases such as the 1977 murder of T.K. Harty, the Athens Murders of 1987. the unsolved double murder of Robby Bryant and Genelle Helms, and the now solved case of Elijah James Wood.
